Thoughts!!!???

O.K. so i have been really bad about posting here, unfortunately for me it is going to have a adverse effect. I feel that the Internet is not the place to post your thoughts and ideals regarding sensitive subjects such as those that tend to be discussed in these type of scholarly related groups.

So my challenge to myself for the next couple weeks (read remainder of quarter) will be to go above and beyond the expectations.

That being said as i sit here i am actually listening to a lecture on conflict management and ethnic and cultural differences. The lecturer has stated that you need to recognise the conflict in order to be able to resolve it. So i ask you the class, How do you feel about blogging beyond the needs to fulfill a requirement for a class?

  1. Alright, so I waited almost a week before commenting, yet can wait no longer!

You bring up great points, especially about having to blog. I am definitely going to think about how to change this next term, as I do want to mitigate the various issues you've talked to me around this subject, yet still like the forum.

One thing is I think I will try to have more prompts and with some options, so you can can better see it as a writing exercise where you have a larger audience than the teacher. Part of academic training is testing your thoughts out on others in a specific format and if you're lucky you inspire a lively discussion, so this is just one way of doing that.

  2. I completely get the point you make about using it as a tool for "testing your thoughts on others." The problem i see with this though is that most people taking this course are in their second quarter, maybe third, of college and are not at a point academically where the importance of that is realized. I feel that this would serve a better purpose if, as you mentioned, there were weekly prompts that were either developed by you or maybe by a group of students who were designated a week or two earlier and the posts were based off something for which the discussion was began in class. I know i personally would have been more involved through out the entire quarter had this been the case.
